Hi -
I purchased two Potters angelfish from LiveAquaria a few weeks ago. They have been in QT together (starting with a divider and now without) since I got them - through TTM and Prazipro. Both are active and eating well.
The thing is - I'd love for these two to pair up (fingers crossed knock on wood). I have one that's under an inch in size, and one that's maybe 2" in length. I don't want to end up with two males and war in my display if I can avoid it..
Right now, they squabble a little bit but mostly just avoid each other. No fin damage. The smaller one darts around PVC (or the rock that's in there now) and they pretty much just keep away from each other.
I'd love to not need to keep my QT tank up if it's not needed. Will putting these fish into my 270g display hurt my chances of them pairing up? Obviously they'll be able to totally avoid each other if they want in the display -- more effectively than they can do so now in the QT tank. But that would be less stress, and there's a lot more rock to pick on in the display..
tl;dr I have two Potters angels that I want to improve my odds at pairing up. They're in a 10g QT together now, but avoiding each other. QT time has passed and I'm confident they're healthy. Move them into the more stable / mature display now or keep them in QT together till I see some interaction other than avoiding each other?
