Powder Blue question

I know that powder blue tangs should be the last tang added to the tank but do they have to be the last fish? Does anyone have a PBT that is aggressive to other fish besides tangs?

oh yeah. anything that will graze will be targeted. mine hates the square white thing and attacks it viciously. BTW, the square white thing is the algae magnet.

anybody have a PBT that has problems with other fish besides tangs? If not, does your PBT get along nicely with your other fish? please comment

yes, i guess i didnt make that clear. mine goes after the lawnmower blenny, the clownfish, and periodically even chases down my corsshatch triggers (and of course the other tangs too). He is the ruler.

Yes, PBT should be the last FISH added to the tank, IME/O. They can be downright mean!

I've got an 8" Naso, a decet sized hippo, and a yellow in my tank now. My plan was to add one last tang in my 180, the Powder Blue.

I think I've decided against it. Too aggressive from what I've read, and ich magnets. As it is, 4 tangs in my 180 might be pushing it. I really love the PBT, but I'm thinking the negatives outweigh the positives.

mine only gives the new comers a hard time for the first 3 days then it completely ignores them but will tell the rest of the tankmates who's boss once one of them acts like they are king. espically other tangs...

I have a PBT with 2 juvi ocellaris, a bicolor blenny, purple pseudo, couple green chromis, cleaner shrimp, couple neon gobies, and he is a chill fish....I think most of you are just exagerating a bit.

Yellow tangs are alot more aggresive when they get older IME.

The PBT is my only and will be my only tang though.

I had a Powder Blue Tang. I ended up giving it back to the fish store. It was too aggressive towards all the other fish and it was the last fish I added to my tank.

hmmm i was going to have the PBT as the only tang in my tank but now I'm starting to reconsider even getting one at all if they are as mean as everyone says. But they are just so beautiful! I'm guessing size has to do a lot with how aggressive they are to other fish.

also just to add if you do feed enough seaweed nori... i find that the PBT or tangs in general are more mellowed out... just my own personal observation
