Powder Blue Tang question

So Brian any updates on your PBT? Has it settled down? Giving it plenty of natural macro algae for it to munch on may help also. I think a 150 gallon tank is plenty large for a PBT. Live Aquaria recommends 125 gallons.

I love Powder Blues. If I had to pick one tang, it would be a PBT.

I've had one. I kept him in a 125. Unfortunately, he killed his tankmates over the course of 6 months. I kept him for another 6 months after that, but succumbed to family pressure to have a community of fish, and I traded him in. He was completely content and grew from 2" to 5" in about a year. He was really fat and just picked on the rock and swam back and forth. Ate anything that hit the water including zuchini, lettuce, and boiled carrots. I could hand feed him.

He seemed kinda bored to be honest. If I ever tried another, I would probably go with a huge tank, if I had the money. They love to swim and I would put them in the "open water" category like a Naso. They need to be housed with tough fish IMHO. Big angels, triggers, damsels, etc. When they go on a tear, look out.

A 2 inch PBT is fine in a 4 foot tank.

I have a PBT in my 8' tank and he swims normally. If your tang still paces after a couple of days, that just means it's stressed out by something, most likely the environment. A 4' tank cannot keep a PBT more than a year or so. It is a very sensitive fish, and any environmental stress will send it on a downward spiral quickly.

To 29reef. This is an open forum. If you do not want opinions whether you like them or not then maybe you should reconsider asking a question that you know will get these kinds of responses. From what I can tell no one is judging you they are just giving you their opinions. If you don't like them there is no need to be a jack *** oh and how is your powder blue doing by the way

Is it covered in ich yet? Powder blues, browns, and Achilles pace frantically due to parasites. Its like you or I in a woods in summertime Minnesota. Misquitos drive you crazy.

This is so true. I unfortunately learned this the hard way. Please listen to what people are telling you.
