Powder Blue Tang

Reapar

New member
I have a 75 gallon reef tank with a 20 gallon fugue/sump

I have between 100-150 lbs. of live rock

I have;

1 clown fish & anemone

1 watchman gobie

1 potters angel

1 mandarin

Various soft corals

Will my tank support a powder blue at this point?

I appologize if I gave the impresion that I was new to this.

I have a 3 year old mandarin he is most definatly an expert level fish

I have 2 separate friends with powder blues in 75's

Even though both fish are over a year old my gut said my tank was too small.

It is a custom made 75, it is much longer then a normal 75. But I suppose it is still too small.

Thank you for the input.

Ya unfortunately the sad truth is that even larger tanks aren't technically big enough for tangs, they are just capable of providing the very basic needs. A powder blue in a 75 will only cause problems with the tang and probably the rest of the fish in the tank.

I'm kind of curious of the dimensions. If it's much longer than a regular 75, it must be either very narrow or very short. lol

Sounds like one of those long and narrow frag tanks. ;) But seriously though a 75 is way to small for a 75 gallon of any length. If the tank is too small they will constantly pace back and forth and will most likely die from stress. Hope that helps. Tony

Thanks Tony

As far as tank, it was made to fit a specific area in my home. It is more narrow and it is more shallow the a typical 75

Also it may even be a bit mote then a 75. I guestamated by how many 5 gallon buckets of water I added when I filled it.

Thanks again for reconfirming what I already knew.

I need to buy a bigger house, so I can buy a bigger tank! Haha!
