both are nearly identical in care requirements. QT either and you will be fine. Achilles are tough tough fish once established. Get it a little bigger then the purple and he will hold his own.
Also, as far Achilles--they are not shy little weaklings. On an aggression scale, they are one of the more aggressive tangs--not the likes of a Clown or Red Sea Sailfin--but still... They are shy at first in general, but not in the peaceful passive way of say a Blue Tang. Both will need nearly perfect water chemistry though to remain healthy long term, and yes--no such thing as too much current for an Achilles.
both can be tough to acclimate, lots of sad stories for both fish... however I love my powder blue, been around a while and boy is he mean! he bullies my older larger naso too! so beware...bold but beautiful!
<a href=showthread.php?s=&postid=11727620#post11727620 target=_blank>Originally posted</a> by reefierone would both be possible in a 225 with no other tangs?
Yes. But to do so without a huge fight you need to introduce them together into the new tank. If either has time to set up a territory or feel that the tank is theirs they will fight very hard for it.
Here you can see both of mine when they were in QT...now they are best buds in my 220:
I love my PBT but the meanest fish in the tank. Thank goodness the aggression is usually only 2-3 days. Every new comers have goten a bloody cut somewhere on their body and not even a 1" butterfly can get away.
We picked up a small blonde nasso, I really wanted an achillies but never found one at any of the LFS's. Perhaps some time in the late future. On a side note I have had some good luck with a pair or barttles and have a regal angel in my sps tank that is doing wonderfully for for seven months now!
