Powder Blue x Ick x Ozone

Hi Guys,

I have a Powder Blue, and he has ick ( this is normal heheh )

I bought a ozone and I will plug him in my skimmer.


Do you guys have some experience with ick and ozone ?

Do you guys think that ozone can kill ick or reduce the parasite population ?

Any coments or experience ?

more of a prevention than a cure. it will over time help to greatly eliminate parasites and fungus. how long have you had the fish? how bad is the outbreak?

ozone won't do a thing. If you ran ozone at the level required to kill the parasites you would most likely kill the fish as well.

I read the 3 articles about ozone from Randy.....Now I know that ozone donÃ"šÃ‚´t kill ick

I have this Fish just for 3 weeks....he is doing well, but some ick gone and back....

Get neon gobies they will clean your fish eating the ich before it can multiply. I have six tangs that I have had for years and a new powder blue around six months. It was covered in ich when I got it, now I only see a spot or two on occasion. None of my other tangs get it.

My PBT gets a spot once every little while, but a stress free environment helps a lot. Water quality is key and I use cleaner shrimp. But if you have a reef tank and dose Iodine you will be replacing them every now and then. A UV sterilizer is helpful in controlling ich, but constant use can cause the immune system of your fish to weaken, IMO.
