Powder blues in reefs

What are people doing to keep there pb's ich free ? I have a 210 that I had some fish with ich in it in the beginning of October. I had the tank fallow from the first week of October until New Years . All of my fish were in qt and in copper the whole time. My nitrates are 5 and my water quality is great.
After a week he broke out. Then it went away for a week and now it's back. I have been feeding nori 2x's a day and feeding a mix of rods, brine, mysis spiralina 4-5x's a day. He's pretty fat along with all my other fish. I have been using garlic, vita chem, selcon, focus, metronidazole ,and kana plex.( not at the same time but mixing it up)
I do not run a uv and I'm not sure I going to since it's only cleaning a small percentage of the tank.

Mine has some small break outs every once in a while. So long as he continues to eat and the break outs are very small, he should be fine.

are you sure you medicated properly? none of your fish should have ich if you dosed and waited the correct times.

have mine over 15 years now and only got ich once when I first got it...they are very active swimmers so open good quality water is a must with hiding places to feel secure...also a well balance diet, not just the same food every day. Mine also injoys a strong current.... it will actually swim through and around powerheads...it seems you have the water quality and diet down, but what are it's tank mates? as mentioned as long as it's acting the same and eating it should recover from small outbreaks once in awhile.

+1. Your fish won't get ich if you don't have ich in the tank. Did you add new fish since your fallow period. Did you qt them in the same way? How long was your fallow period?

My pbt is about 6 yers old and only had ich once (in qt when I first brought him home).

That's what I would've thought as well. Like I said before the tank was empty for 12weeks. I had everything in two separate qt tanks with copper at a level of 2. I picked up the pb at the six week mark. And he was in the same level of copper. I made the mistake of putting some anthias in and they had the ich. I finally pulled the trigger to get them out when my clown , Atlantic blue, and tomini came down with ich. Since they were back in the tank none of them have had it.

There is an Atlantic blue, purple, and tomini tangs in with him. 2 anthias, 3 wrasses, black clown, and a bar gobie. The tangs get along pretty well and don't fight much. The high archy start with the Ab, purple,pb,tomini. The Ab andPb actually swim around together.

I had a serious problem with Ich wiped out everything and cost me hundreds.. Killed all my fish. I kept my tank fish free for six months and I quarantine in small 10 Gallon tank. At "lvl 3. Good luck it can really be a pain.

on a side note I have not had Ich for 6 months. and I have added several fish.. only thing I know is that tongs are very susceptible to Ich I believe it has something to do with their softer skin. good luck man

quarantine religiously.

If you don't start over with a good fallow again, then this will always haunt you. Also, you said copper at 2. I assume you mean .2 because 2.0 should probably have killed the fish. Cupramine stated fish can withstand 1.0 however not recommended. anything over .5 is pointless, but .2 is not going to eliminate ich, might reduce it enough so that your fish look healthy until you put them back into display and they reinfect your tank. Inside the gills is the easiest and first way it infects your fish so just because you don't see it, it doesn't mean your fish aren't suffering.

Also I watch some videos about what the ich parasite actually does under the skin tissue and it basically just keeps spinning and digging deeper the whole time. They also stated that gill damage caused by ich never healed. Which is worrisome. I don't know who "they" are or how credible that is, but its food for thought.

Good luck, fallows are no fun.

I was using coppersafe. I have to check my test when I get home it may be .2. If anything over .1 is pointless then I should've been fine. THE FISH WERE IN COPPER FOR 3MONTHS. THE PB WAS IN FOR 6WEEKS . THE DT WAS FALLOW FOR 3 MONTHS. I don't get it LOL.

And I know not everyone likes coppersafe but it was all that was available. I also know plenty of. people that have used it with great results.

So basically back to square one and qt them again? Or should I wait and see? Maybe the fish will develop an immunity? I don't remember where I read it but isn't there bacteria in the fishes stomach that gets broken down with copper? could this be affecting him?

BTW no hostility here more frustrated than anything.

You may have had insufficient copper levels. I recommend Cupramine along with a SeaChem Copper test kit. I recently used this with a PB in QT and it worked great! I have never had ick in my DT. I found that Cupramine dispenses drops when used as directed is pretty accurate to the test kit at .5. I used a bare bottom tank and cleaned it periodically to extra help break the cycle.

After reading the description of Copper Safe I would stay away from it.
It almost read like a prophylactic treatment killing ick, flukes, etc. I use PrazilPro as a prophylactic for all new fish for flukes, but only use copper only when needed.
