Powder Brown - Fungus or Ich or something else??

I have a powder brown tang that initially had symptoms of marine ich upon arrival, and after a fresh water dip and six total weeks in the QT under hyposalinity with positive results, I began to slowly raise the salinity level over the past week to hopefully introduce him to my display tank. However after a week of raising the salinity level he has at least five white raised spots averaging 1mm in diameter. I can try and add pics if anyone responds, but does anyone have any inclinations as to what this might be? Please help!!!

When you say hyposalinity what was your salinity? Did you use just a regular hydrometer?

Did he have any spots during hyposalinity?
When you began to raise salinity did anything "wet" from your DT touch your QT (i.e. nets, water, hydrometer, etc).

The salinity was 1.009 - 1.010 in the QT, and I use a refractometer. I make it a point to clean all surfaces of the refractometer thoroughly within minutes after use no matter which tank I am measuring. These spots seem much larger than the usual marine ich that I have seen in the past, so I was wondering if maybe it was something new. I do not think that I used any common "wet items" during the QT, because it is usually such a laborious process that I am continuously vigilant about the process.

Sorry, to answer your other question, I did not see any white or salt-like spots during hyposalinity, but I did notice what looked like very small dark circular spots when he was silouetted against the light. They were always in the same place so I thought they were past scars from the previous infection.

Depending on the size of the tang and the QT he may be a little stressed from the cramped quarters. If he is eating well I would consider introducing to the DT, but that's just me I try and maintain quality water and when I see ich I don't treat, just continue feeding right and 9 times out of 10 it goes away.

Without pics its hard to say, but if it doesn't look like the cysts caused by Crypt, have you looked into lymphocystis?
