Not sure whats going on but ill start from the top. Several months ago My beloved powder brown (Coco) began to swim in circles and up untill this point he was very healthy, fat, hungary, happy fish. As soon as I noticed this I went into action to correctly diagnose him
. After two days conculded that it was bacterial and had evolved into pop eye. Immediatly put him into QT and began to medicate with Tri Sulfa tabs. After a day he stopped swimming in circles and a few day later eating as normal, the only clue that remained was a lesion/bubble like that was above one eye but this eventually disappeared after a week and he was back to his original self only a little thinner.
I decided at this point to QT all fish and run my display though a QT period to rid of any nasties. About 7 weeks later all was back to normal. Now its been about a month and a bit since then and all fish are great except I've noticed that Coco was still a little thin. I have concluded that there is a problem with him so having been keeping a close eye on him and this is what I've found.
As soon as I put food into the tank, as per the norm, all fish get into a frenzy to eat including Coco; only problem is that he misses 90% of food with his mouth. I've tried with pellets, flake, live, frozen, etc and he tries to eat but while anyother fish is constantly eating for the min or so that the food is available for Coco will only get say 5 pieces max.
I've decided to test my theroy and have been placing a small rock with Nori attached to it with an lastic band into the display. I shew off the other fish and only let Coco at it and TRUE,,,,, he misses and onkly gets the non moving nori into his mouth about 1 in 5 nibbles.
I put a mass amount of effort into getting Coco or eat when I first bought him and now would be my fav fish but am concerend as he is not eating enough, adding more food would only pollute that tank, sectioning him off to keep the other fish away and give him more of a chance to eat is pretty difficult/impossible to do.
Has anybody experience such a thing? any ideas? comment? etc would be appreciated.
