Powder Brown Tang?

I currently have a Purple Tang in my 90 gallon tank. I've kept him succesfully in it for about a year now. Now i'm thinking about ordering a Powder Brown Tang for the same tank.

The Purple Tang has also benn out of the DT for two weeks being treated for an internal parasite. He was added back to the DT yesterday. Because of this I don't think territorial issues will be a problem with a Powder Brown Tang. However I still want your imput on whether or not purchasing a Powder Brown Tang is a good idea.

Thanks,
Matt

Matt,

Whenever a Purple Tang is kept in your home aquarium territorial issues are always present. We do not recommend adding an additional Tang to the aquarium that is housing a Purple Tang as these fish are aggressive and may not readily welcome the new arrival to the aquarium.

In order to keep these specimens in the same aquarium you would need to add the least aggressive fish to the aquarium first, allowing adequate acclimation time, and then the more aggressive fish last. This will give the less aggressive fish time to acclimate to the aquarium and establish its own territory and will help to reduce the stress level in the aquarium caused by the more aggressive fish.

Please contact us with any other questions you may have.
