Power, and my display are out! fish and softies to a good home.

OK, been thinking about taking down the display since I spend all my time with the baby fishes now. 100 degree temps ARE my threshold. Moved my 55 gallon display contents to basement so they would not boil. Don't think I lost anything big.

Free to a good home:
Beautiful fish:
orange firefish
purple firefish
coral beauty--really a nice one
large serpent star

Soft corals:
Hairy mushrooms and a couple of leathers and a toadstool or three

ONe small frag orange montipora from Dr BDC.

$4 a pound live rock, I have about 50 pounds I'm willing to give up. It has some hair algae and a few mushrooms attached.

55 gallon glass aquarium, no holes
Cherry veneer Petsmart stand
both for $100

JBJ PC light fixture, 48", 4x 55 watt bulbs included, $100

I would like to sell the corals first, to ease the removal of rocks, and lastly, fish.

PM,
I have no power, and won't for several days, so I am at the library to use the computer. Please be patient.

Thanks,
Kathy

I would love the coral beauty but I am not sure about my tank specs. Let me know what you think. It is a 30G already housing 2 chromis a Perc a bicolor blenny and a YW gogy. If you think this is to much or one of the other fish would be a better choice, let me know.

I work at Delmar and 170 so I should be pretty close to you.

Thanks

Amy, I was looking and respondingto the pms whenyou posted, I think you are third, but the other 2 want the softies.

Everyone, please pm so I can manage to get you in order.

Superfly, you are already full up on fish IMHO. Sorry.

sorry to hear that kathy, I am considering not having a tank upstairs even when there is power during the summer. Not a fan of chillers. Stay cool!

Thanks everyone, I think most things are spoken for, and all are still alive. I won't be able to do anything until Saturday as far as pick up is concerned.

Babies in the basement went without much attention yesterday as I dismantled the display and brought it downstairs to my 75 dgree basement. All is well. Although the firefish and CB are hiding and the clownfish did not want to eat much this morning.

For the clownfish growout system:
I am using the 50 pound box of battery recharger unit that we keep in our cars (we have 2) with an inverter to power the minijet pump that keeps my bioballs wet. I am alternating using and recharging them.

I am manually removing water from the sump and pouring it into the individual fish tanks. Water flows from the overflows to the filter and bioballs. I can only do this a couple of times a day, as I am at work most of the day. But I think it effectively exchanges ammonia free water with dirty fish water.

The inverter/battery/minijet keep it wet when I am not there, and when I am sleeping. I put a chunk of live rock in each of the baby fish tanks, and have battery powered air pumps to keep the water oxygenated and moving.

All the cultures are OK. All the algae, all the rotifers, all are bubbling on battery power. It is good this happened in summer, because a power outage in winter would require heat. The basement is 62 in winter. Fortunately, our power has not gone out in winter.

None of the fish were fed yesterday. I fed a little this morning using a battery powered light to illuminate.

It was day 2 for the larvae yesterday. I ignored them, because I had broodstock about to boil. They were in the dark all day. I did
not feed them. Their temp fell to 78 degrees. They had air and that's it.

This morning in the glow of the battery light, I had no deaths, and lots of fat bellied larvae. They had only been feed once in their lives, 48 hours ago. I guess those rotifers multiplied in the tank, and larvae can see in the dark. It is miraculous!

We did lose my daughter's sickly goldfish, but I think that was inevitable. Sad for her though.

Cheers,
Kathy

Well, the power came on at 7 this morning. Everything is happier to be out of the dark. My fish all came out and ate something. I could see them for once. Corals and rocks have gone to good homes, and I have takers for the fish.

I am feeling just exhausted. It has been a long dark 4.5 days of applying hot water bottles, lifting water, feeding and cleaning in the semi darkness.

The great news is that the big fish and the all the juvenile clownfish all survived. Even the pipefish babies that I did not think had a chance, are fine. I have 2. Thank God for bubble boxes and D cell batteries. Nothing would have survived without them.

Got to go order some instant algae and stuff to replace the freezer food.
Glad to have power.

Thanks for all the good wishes!
Kath
