power bar problems.

my power bar has started acting up and i cant figure it out. it keeps shutting down. no lights on, not even the power or communication light. when i move the communication cable around, sometimes everything kicks right back on, and other times just the power and communication light come back on. is there a short in this cable? is there an overload somewhere?

everything has worked fine until today. the only thing i have done different is to plug a solenoid from my co2 tank back in. i have 3 halide ballasts, a tunze 6100, the solenoid, and a heater.

ok. i was mistaken though. its not a heater connected to it, its a t5 ballast.

i think the problem may actually be a short in a cord from one if the halide ballasts. i started playing hunt the cause, and i noticed that while wiggling the communication cable the power and communication lights come on but dont stay on. then i noticed that wiggling the cable on one ballast in particular near where it enters the ballast causes everything to kick back on to normal. could that be causing the problem?

also, what are possible sources of interference? i recently added another tunze and when i did, i just set the transformer down inside near where the communication cable is running. could this be a possible source of interference?

Anything that produces either a high magnetic field or variable voltage can cause interference.

Golden rule keep controllers, probes and poawe bars away from such devises.

But I think by the sounds you have found the source already ;)

ok, i dont think that was the problem. i went to unplug something else, and the same thing happened. now i see that anytime i wiggle any power cord, everything cuts off. i wiggled the communication cord from the back of the profilux and everything kicked on and works fine. so what would be your guess?

Pulled connection on back of ProfiLux
bad connection at mains outlet spiking power bar

Unplug everything on the power bar, wiggle lead on data cable what do the LED's do?

If nothing plug things back in one at a time until you find the fault.

Further support do not reply here but email me sales@aqua-digital.com save me keep coming on here looking for replies ;)

and the winner is...........

bad connection at mains outlet spiking power bar.

i unplugged everything like you said and started from scratch. the plug fit very loose into the outlet for some reason. i moved it to a different outlet and all is well.

thanks

no need for the email now
