I was tired of salt water mixing with the timers and wires, so i built an outsde-the-sump panel
The panel begins with 2 GFCI units operating two banks of power, one for timers, one for switched plugs. The timers are plug-in digital types, with a surge protector for each bank downstream of the timer. This was for the simplicity of replacing a timer, down the road, if need be.
The various pumps are controlled by switches operating gangs of plugs. The lights and surge/flow powerheads are controlled by the timers. It looks like it would overwhele a house circuit, but everything is low amps. It all plugs into two house outlets behind the tank, and sits next to my tank. Works great..and no more water slashes on electricity.
Thought Id share. If anyone wants a diagram, I can sketch one up. its easy to build - if you can do simple wiring.
