power center question

So they both suck? I have lamp timers, but they take up so much room. I was hoping there was a solution that could save some space.

They are literally the same thing. Coralife and Zilla are owned by the same parent company, they just package one for fish and one for reptiles.

Well, the online reviews that I found were less than flattering, at least on the model with the dial. Apparently they stick and the lights either don't come on or don't turn off.

I have both power strips. The digital one and the one with two dials. They both work flawlessly. I have never had any problems with them. I can see how some people might have a problem with them though. The one with this dial has a setting to turn on/off/auto the dial. If this is accidently bumped or set then the dial will shut off/on. I think some people don't understand how to use the product. I like them but if I had to do it all again I would probably buy a AC jr and be done with it. I like the way they are a all in one controller for you tank rather than using the power strips.

I use the one with 2 dials to run my lights and I use the digital to run my Kalk mixer and ATO pump as well as heater, fans, etc.

I have two of them with the dials. I've had them for two months with no problems. My only complaint is that although there are 4 outlets for the timers, they are mutually exclusive, i.e. two outlets for a 12 hour period, the other two for the opposite 12 hour period.

It sure is, unless you have moon lights (which I don't), so two of the 'night time' outlets are unused. Getting better power management is second on my list of new equipment. Need to get a RO/DI unit first.

However, on an interim basis, the Coralifes are reasonably priced.

I used one of the "dial type" coralife's on my nano for a year and a half with no problems.

I am currently using it on my larger system to stir my kalk at night with no problems.

It sounds like this is good enough for me to give it a try. Does anyone have a preference for the dial vs. the digital?

I have the digital one on my nano and I think its fine. I do find the 2 day outlets and 2 night outlets a little bit of a bummer (no actinic dusk/dawn), but other than that, its not a bad product.

I picked up my Dial one on clearance at PetSmart by accident one day. I paid like $15 for it.

I never used the digtal and do not know the functionality of it, but the dial seem real straight forward like any other generic light timer.

You have the ability to turn the Day/Night switches on/off every 15 minutes and then you have the four standard always on.

the digital i had lost time. never worked quite right. then i bought cheap seperate timers. never worked right. then i bought dial timers, worked fine. then i got a great deal on a used AC Jr. i'll never go back. considering the cost i put out on timers, power strips, etc - getting an AC jr was just as cost effective in the end.
