Got my Apex last night and no power supply is that normal? I figured power for the unit was supplied through the aqua bus from the eb8 is my apex broke?
The base module gets power through the Aquabus as you already discerned. What's optional is a 12v supplemental power source. That is not included but is easy to source. The controller can detect a loss of power on either source.
Yes, power is typically supplied through the Aquabus from the EB8. If you do not have an EB8, you will need a 12V power supply. If you have an EB8 and it is not starting up, please make sure the circuit breaker on the EB8 is not tripped.
The system is the standard Apex starter kit not the Apex lite came with one energy bar. I thought the energy bar was a EB8 but maybe its not. The display back lght comes on if its plugged into the energy bar and i unplug the apex module. system works with a 12VDC. I have a feeling that my aquabus cable is bad or their is something wrong with the controller module. Also tried different ports nothing.
Everything is working but have to use a 12v power supply. The apex controller isn't getting power from the EB8 through the USB style cable. I tried all 6 aqua bus ports nothing. I think that either the aquabus cable or contoller module is bad. Hoping its the cable. have another EB8 getting delivered monday I will be able to troubleshoot the cable and EB8 when they get here.
It could be that the display is not working correctly. Contact Neptune. Mine went blank and a friends went blank. All it takes is a firmware update to correct the issue if I'm not mistaken. Unless you can see something on the screen, its just not bright. In that case, the units backlight has gone out... also happened to mine.
Display is working just have to use a power supply on the base unit no power through the aqua bus i think my bus cable is bad will try the a new cable when my new EB8 gets here on monday to isolate the problem. how is neptune on replacing bad parts?
Got my new EB8 and aquabus cable and my older EB8 and cable are good. But I noticed that when I unpluged the power supply from the powerstrip the base unit still had power. when I unplugged the power supply cable from the base unit it goes dead, their is a switch in the base unit power supply input that must be depressed to power the unit up is this normal? I'm thinking that the base unit has a open in the power supply plug.
BTW I called customer service on monday and they told me I could use a male A to male A usb cable to test the cable. they said that is what the aqua bus cable is.
