I have 2 digital power strips that I want to use for my tank is it safe to mount them in the stand above the sump or should I install them outside of the stand?

Thanks

I'd be worried about salt creep and water splashes, but then again I'm paranoid

As long as they won't get splashed and are mounted securely, you should be fine. Make sure they are plugged into GFI's. That is a must with all aquarium equipment.

I don't see a problem with that at all.

Something to consider is that sometimes GFIs don't like the surge of power required when everything comes on at once. If you find that you are tripping the GFI you may want to divide the load between two of them.

I've heard mention of GFI extension cords being included on other equipment for purchase being sold by Aquarium vendors so I think its a safe alternativeto use rather than replacing your recepticals with GFI's.

You only need 1 GFI on the first of a series of outlets. Most would only need 1, some 2, zilla maybe 1/2 dozen :D .
