Powerhead Choice

Hi,
I was almost sold on two MP10's when I started researching Tunze pumps. I currently run a 9010 skimmer and love it, so I come here for some advice.

Here are my tank specs.

It is an acrylic 85 gallon tank, with 0.375 in (0.9525 cm) wall thickness.

I have an Apex Lite controller and would plan on purchasing the Variable Speed Pump Control (VDM).

My tank is mixed, primarily high end LPS and Softies/Zoas, with a few SPS (monti caps, encrusting monties, couple acros). It is also a bare bottom.

I am looking to create random flow with a nice sway.

2 6095 would be the best bet, they should do very well with those corals and the tank dimensions listed.

That's great to hear, plus they are about $100 less each than the 6105's I though I was going to need. Thanks for the input!

I have two 6095s that are Apex controlled in a SPS dominated tank. I found that the controllability is unlimited. You are making an excellent choice - the 6095s are dead silent and are one of the best purchases I have made for my tank.

Thanks for the help.

With my flat-back hex and Apex controller, where should I mount the pumps? I was thinking of mounting them on the back wall and angling them towards their opposite front panel, basically making a crisscross. I guess I am asking advice on where to place them and how to direct the flow. Hopefully, with the wide flow pattern, it won't require as much fine-tuning.

I would agree on placement, I would set them up though so they alternate either with one off and one on or one at 30% when the other is pulsing and alternate them every few hours, the on pump or full power pump should be pulsed between two speeds when it is running.
