powerhead damaging arco

so i woke up this morning with my mj 1200 hanging in my tank because the suction cups came off the glass. it was pointing directly at one of my acropra frags and it started to blow the tissue off. its only peeld it at the base of the frag.... in not sure what i should do or if anything can be done. i dont want to lose this guy. i just started keeping sps. would algae or infections be something to be concerned about. the frag still looks pretty healthy besides the tissue at the bottom being gone

If the damage is at the bottom, I would just leave it and hope for the best. If possible, try to take it out and cover the exposed part with superglue. This should prevent algae from growing over it. As time passes, new tissue will grow over the superglued area and you wont notice a difference. If the damage was isolated at the tips, you could just merely frag the tips off. Hth.

i might try that. its encrusted my live rock, i thought about using superglue but it might just make a huge mess if i try to put it on the frag underwater.

The same thing happened to me on one of my stags (mj1200 with suction cup dislodged and blew it to shreds)..I left it alone and it recovered in ~3 weeks. Good luck

Mjs suck better to mount them some other way then the suction cups or you will have this problem again, some people have used a cheap magfloat and glued the mounting bracket to it, making it like a mini tunze after the stream mod too. If your not too handy buy a tunze or seio loos the mj
