Powerhead placement

I have a 4'x4' tank with most of the flow being 6 powerheads (Jebao and Tunze). All of my powerheads are in the top half of the tank. I am currently running sandless as it gives more flow. Most of the coral is Acropora, which is the direction I want to keep going with the tank, but I do have an elegance and a large Squamosa clam.

I am tempted to add some sand and see if it blows away, and move the powerheads if it does. If I don't do that, I am also tempted to keep bare-bottom and move my powerheads to the bottom of the tank.

What does everyone think?

What size are these powerheads in gph?

I have 2 jebao wp 40's which are rated 3,400 gph. I have 2 Tunze 6100's which are rated 3000 GPH, and 2 tunze 6105 which are also rated 3400 gph.

Real world, they are probably all a little less, especially if I am lazy cleaning them.
