Powerhead placement?

I have 2 Seio 1500 powerheads. What would be the ideal placement in a 75 gallon tank? I have a timer to turn them alternately on and off every 15 minutes. Should I place them pointed at each other on opposites sides of the tank or maybe opposite sides along the length of the tank pointing back to front?

depends on your rocks and coral placement but a good place to start is in the back corners both pointing towards the opposite front corners or pointing towards the front middle. Another way is pointing both directly at eachother from opposite sides of the tank. Theres many ways. I'd say, experiment with it until you find something that works well.

Yeah, somehow the flow never goes quite the way I think it will. Try out a few configurations and see what works best for you.

Do you think that the 15 minute on off cycle would be a reasonable wavemaker set-up?

Can Seios be placed on a wavemaker?

I'm using a Coralife Aqualight Power Center Timer which allows me to plug in 4 powerheads having 2 on at a time and the smallest time increment is 15 minutes. (2 go on and when they shut off, the other 2 fire up)

I can increase the time between intervals throughout a 24 hour period to make it more random but I was thinking it might be best to use the shortest interval. I know that waves come in less than every 15 minutes but I might be able to come closer to the benefits of true wave action with a switch on the quarter hour.

I'm not sure if the propellers and magnet can take that kinda of abuse. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

you won't be able to make a typical "wave" with them alternating every 15 min. The seios can run on a controller, but usually only the seio controller was designed for it

most people use the 2 timers on the coralife power bar for lighting your tank and fuge light. Which i assume is what the coralife was designed for.

I sure would like to hear opinions. I didn't even consider wear and tear on the heads. I just assumed....(famous last words, huh?)

I've been wondering the same thing about the PH placement.

I have my K2 on the right middle pointed towards the bottom/middle of the front glass. Then point my other PH towards the top/middle of the front glass.

My idea is to use the K2 to get stuff on the sand bed suspended & use the 2nd PH to push it to my overflow as well as create a circle pattern in the tank. Water goes from the top right to the bottom, then from the bottom left to the top & across the surface.

The Seio's won't be able to take the constant turning on and turning off. If you want wavemaking action you'll need to get Seio's wavemaker controller which brings the current down to like 30%, then back up to 100%, but it never goes to 0%.
