Powerhead Placement

Yesterday, I received the two EcoTech VorTech MP40ws I ordered. I wanted to have them up and running today, but am indecisive about their placement. The tank they are going in is 24-inches tall. Right now, I have them approximately 8-inches below the aquarium's rim. Is this placement optimal?

thats about where my step dad keeps his on reefcrest mode and they are insane!
