Hi guys,

I need your input. I'm not 100% satisfied with the way I set up my PH's. Some corals get blasted while others barely get any water flow. I've tried slight changes with the current set-up but nothing really helped much.

This is how I have it set-up right now

This is how I was thinking of setting them up

Do you think option 2 would work better? I know every tank is different buuuut... :-)

thanks!
Ray

I think it comes down to individual preferance. I have a similar set up and I too am still not happy with it. I've been making small adjustments over a period of time to see what works best. I know I dont have the answer for you but I think you need to keep adjusting till you find what works best wiht your system.

Yeah, I will prob. test till I find what works best for my application. I think i will try option 2 and adjust from there.

are they all at the same level? or at different heights in the tank?

Hights vary a couple of inches but they point differnt directions.

I would do option 2 with one side on at a time for 2-3 hours then switch. I have a 72" tank running a mag 6 at each end and just have one running for 3 hours then switch to the other end for 3 hours, the rotation goes 24-7. I have sps, lps, softies, ect and everything loves the circular motion created with running just one powerhead at a time, keep in mind I have 3 islands of rock and the rock isnt on the back wall. This has worked for me for the last 6 months with no problems. You may want to run 2 power heads at the sametime due to the smaller k4's. The neat thing about this hobby is about what you find that works the best for your tank.

Hmm, nice set-up. Will deff. look into this. thanks

Option two IMO. Corals that require a lot of flow go in the middle, those that don't go on the outskirts.

I would go with option 2 but aim PH 1 and 4 at the glass. Can you mount powerhead 2 low on the overflow box? (If you can then move ph 1 back a little from the front of the tank.)

Might give that a try and see what you think.

I would go with the second one, I was told to offset my powerheads rather than to keep them at the same level this gives a some flow almost everywhere and the heads aren't fighting each other

Hi guys,

Option 2 did not give me the results I wanted. I have rock and live stock about 3 inches any from the side glass, so it was getting pounded pretty hard form the 2 Kor 4's.

I messed around with this all weekend and I came up with a set-up that I think will work best for me, not only now, but when I get the rest of my frags in and start having growth.

I combined both Option 1 and 2. I will photoshop an illustration and post it in a few minutes.

thanks
