powerhead problem

My piece of s*** powerheads keep falling into my sandbed!!! I hate suction cups!! I know you can DIY

OOPS!! You can DIY magnets to hold them but how? What magnets should I use? How do you attach them? Anyone else done this to their powerheads? I have all MJs. Thanks

I just superglued mine to one of the magnetic scrapers. I used the seio bracketry so that it could rotate 180 degrees as well. It was a very quick and easy DIY project.

Yu can contact Seio (TAAM)and ask to buy one or two of the swivel brackets (Item #5 on the order list for an 820), if you don't have any.

Don't go buy the cheapo magnet from walmart it will not hold up a MJ. I use the mag float 125 I think for the one I glued The bigger one from wally world and it works unbelivably great.

I think I got what she was saying. if you are gonna get a new mag, get a good one not wally world el cheapo. Um.. I have 2 older scrubber magnets that have lost their scrub. I just bought a new one. Say $10 for both? LMK

A simple way is to clean your suction cups and clean the glass where they will attach. Get some aquarium grade silicone and apply some to the dry suction cups and press them against the glass. I've done this for years and it works fine. Tunze even shows doing this very thing in their instruction books.

Kind of hard to do when the tank is full of water. I have cleaned both the glass and cups but the fall off after a few days

You do this when it is full of water. Works fine.

Opps sorry about that. Wally world sells 2 or three sizes and I and I know others bought the smallest cheapest mag float they had trying to save a few bucks but the magnet is not strong enouph. I went back and got the biggest magfloat they sell (a 125 I think) and it works great. The magnet is much stronger and the PH will not slide down the glass.

Thats a neat trick Dave, I didn't know you could put uncured silicone in the water. Thats the cheapest way to fix the problem!

This "Twister" magnet scraper has worked great for me. I use MaxiJets and the size of the magnet is perfect for mounting the MJ bracket to. I use superglue.
Best DIY mod I've done. I use it to hold my heater and my Aqua C preskimmer box in place too.
