powerhead question 30 gallon fowlr

I have a halfmoon 30 gallon tank from marineland. 30 pounds of live rock and live sand. I have a hob filter and protein skimmer. Do I need to have a powerhead for additional water movement in my tank. If so how much movement and how to position it. Thanks!

I recommend have some more movement/flow in the tank. I recommend the Jebao RW-4, good price and moves a ton of water. For as placement it just really depends on your aquascape and where your dead spots are. You just have to play with it until you are satisfied.

I have a pump that moves 600gph. Is that to much for my tank?

+1 to the rw-4. I have one in my biocube 29 and it moves a lot of water.

That pump will be good, but are you able to adjust the flow. With the RW-4 it's adjustable to match your liking.

With a fish only system you want to have at least 20 times the display in GPH or you will see a lot of detritus settling in the tank, so you want at least 600 gph total.
