ok, I have a 30 long (36") what size mj's should I get?
also in gph what should I have.
ALSO I have 2 mj1200's that I would like to trade for the appropriate ones for my tanks. thanks

Why not use the 2 MJ's on opposing sides of the 30L with Hydor Flotor rotating heads to create random flow? No need to get different pumps IMO. What you have should be fine.

well right now it is half full, so they blow sand around like mad, but I was under the influence that if you aimed them both at the center of the tank against the glass, that they would produce a random flow. I was thinking about those things though it will be easier to figure out when I fill it up next week. thanks alot. anyone else? I though 600 gph was too much.

Try the hydor's I use them and they cut the flow WAY down but work great for random flow. Kepe in mind you do need to clean them occasionally though, I do every 2 monthes or so and have no problems. Sand is stired up for a little while then the area they hit will form a pocket, or just throw a chunk of rock there. Good luck!

a pocket? i dont get it. but if they cut the flow down that will work how much are they? let me guess like 12 bucks a pop right lol

The flow will spread the sand where it needs to and then balance out as long as none ofyour critters fill in the holes. I think they are about 10 bucks but I may be wrong, its been a while since I bought them

When you find where the bare spots are just put soem rock there, even rubble does the trick and the sand will settle around it, May take a little tweaking but it should work out

I am gonna hold off on it, the clown is adjusting to one and seems happy. When I fill it up ill put the other one on. I want the hydors but now money for me at the moment.

 i think a tunze 6200 would make sure that thier were no dead spots. :D

just kidding

maybe two mj600s might be more appropriate.
you could also sell the 1200s and even out for the price of 2 new 600s
