Powerhead?

I am setting up a 75 gallon this week and currently only have a wp-25. How many more powerheads do I need? Also what brand you recommend?

I like the hydor powerheads. Easy to clean, inexpensive, and do a really nice job keeping the water moving. As far as how many...to hard to say cause the size of the powerheads available. Also how much flow do you want in your tank? Do you have corals or livestock that prefer calmer water? Anyways I would suggest at least two no matter the size. One to create a nice water flow throughout the tank and the other aimed towards the water surface giving it a little turbulance. Just my two cents.

Not sure how much flow you have already with your pump but ecotech makes great pumps. You will pay more $ but it is worth it in the long run. You get what you pay for in this hobby, IMHO.I would get an MP10. The pumps are fully controllable, so you can always adjust the flow if you need to. Tune makes good powerheads from what I have been told too. Happy reefing!

I had 2 MP10s on a 75g and enjoyed them. However it would not be enough flow for a full SPS build. So it really depends on what corals you want to keep. I don't know much about Jebao. But if I were trying to do it on the cheap 2x Koralia 1400GPH would be my starting point.

What about two wp25? I have the Apex Jebao controller to hook up two pumps with. Would two of these be good or too much? Maybe one wp25 and one wp10?

Based only upon the GPH of the pump on a 75g I would do two wp25. (Again I have no experience with them). With what I've seen of the lower GPH pumps like my MP10 they could not punch through much more than 2 or 3 ft of water before the current died. I also tried an unbalanced load of 1x MP40 and 1x MP10 and was not very happy. I find 2 balanced pumps to be better.

Your mileage may vary.
