Powerheads suggestion

Hi, I have a 48x48x24 tank will setup as a mix reef, could you point me which pump will be better and how many to put in the tank? All powerheads will put on one side (the side with external overflow).

Thanks.
Charles

2 6105 with the wide flow housings attached (included) and most likely set to 18V (12, 18 and 24V included).

Thanks, Roger. My tank is 3/4" thick, will the 6105 work with the glass thickness? And what's the difference on the setting for the 12V, 18V and 24V? Sorry for the stupid questions, since this is the first time I am using Tunze product. Got the VxxTxx pump but did not like it and want to try something else for the noise issue.

It will require the extension set 6205.501 to boost the holding magnet, this replaces the outside magnet with a stronger one. At 12v the range of the pump is about 550-1600 gph, at 18V about 800-2400 and at 24v, 1150-3400, it basically set the range of flow you can adjust on the controller.

Roger, input on placement on this size tank. I'm thinking of getting one too. 3 side viewable so likely pumps on back wall.... Recommendations on control settings?

Hi Roger, as you recommended, I got two 6105s with a controller for the tank, but can't get a good flow pattern with the pumps. I am using one 6105 as a wave and one 6105 as a pause mode and both with a wide flow covers in the back wall. I am getting a pretty high flow in the bottom but not in the middle or top column. Could you tell me what's the distance to the waterline I should place the pump and how I can improve the water movement?

I would use them in Interval mode, wave mode with one 6105 on a tank this size is not worthwhile. If you want a wave the better bet is a wavebox. I would have the pumps about 6-8" from the top and aimed in an X across the tank from back to diagonal front. The ideal will be to have one pump idleing at 30% while the other pulses between 30-100% and every few hours they switch off.
