Was thinking of Seio or Maxijet but saw a Zoo med powersweep and i liked the way it moves from side to side. kinda like the Seio

Anyone own or have experience with the Zoo med powersweep?

I have not use the Zoo med. I have a Maxijet on my skimmer that seems to work well. Otherwise, I have used the Rio models with great success and limited maintenance.

it depends on how large a tank you have and what types of animals you are trying to keep. maxijets are dependable, seios move a lot of water, the powersweep is junk, mine stopped sweeping after a month.

I agree with twon8. We've had 2 of the powersweeps - they don't sweep for long and they produce more heat than a maxijet. We use both maxijets & seios and like them both.

I used the powersweeps and the sweeper kept getting stuck and it was brand new so I returned it and switched to maxijets

I have had 2 zoo power sweepers for 3 months and have not had any problems. I like the movements they create, which you can't get with the stationary power heads unless you have them hooked to a wave maker. I would say the only drawback is they are a little larger than some of the other powerheads.

do not buy the zoo med power sweep, they are junk. Do yourself a favor and buy MJ 1200, I don't think there is anybody that has used them that has any complaints. I prefer them over the sieos and I have had all three you mentioned.

Forgot to mention it is for a 42 gallon hex.

Also getting ready to start up a 42-45gallon corner tank and need powerheads

I don't think the power sweeps are junk at all, but like anything else with moving parts inside a tank, they just need an occasional cleaning out when they get gunked up after time.

both seios and maxijets should work fine, again depending on what you want to do for water flow.. i've heard not so great things about the sweeps too..
