Powerheads

I noticed my new powerheads suck up a lot of food floating around the tank.... is this alright? and should I regularly clean the inside of my powerheads?

You really shouldn't have food floating around in your tank. If this is occuring during feeding maybe try turning off the powerhead while your fish eat. Have you noticed if the food goes thru your powerhead and gets spit out (This happens in my tank).

This is fine infact it better as it restricts the amount of uneatin food, waste and other debris from settling. With coral its s differant story. If they arent getting enough foos then turn off the pumps and skimmer for a few hours after feeding.

yeah I meant during feeding, the pumps push the food around the tank and it seems to get eaten up pretty fast..... I just noticed occasionaly food would get sucked in the pump...

but for corals should I turn my pumps off then for feeding? I also have phytoplankton for them..

thanks
