Powerouttage for a second-settings lost on controller

The power at my house went out last night for less than one second and when it came back the controller was blinking some sort of error message but in German. This is the second time the power has gone out and the settings were not restored. But I recall it didn't always do this. Is something wrong with the controller or is this normal?

I have see this a few times now from different users.
According to Matthias, the settings are stored in non volatile memory and should not disappear when the power is cut.
I am not sure if there is a batch of them out in the wild that is not performing correctly or it is random.
I suggest making sure you do a back up of your settings per the manual and then pull the power for a minute and plug back in.
If it has lost its settings then I guess you need to see your local supplier to get it fixed.

This time I saved the settings under the "file" menu and the settings seem to save when I tested it out by unplugging the power for a minute.

Providing the settings have been stored correctly as mentioned above you will not lose settings, if a user does not store them to the Profilux then of course when the power goes out you will lose your settings.

Not to hijack this thread, but, should the controller be used in conjunction with a some sort of surge protector? I have all of my other computer equipment protected, but, never really thought of this little computer.

Any computer should be surge protected really, one of the biggest insurance claim is for power surges taking out tV's and pc's etc.

Just up to the individual if they wish to put one in place I guess.

You told me the exact opposite when you were helping me set mine up. You said plug the computer directly into the wall plug, and free up a plug on the power strip.

I think you miss understod me.

No the controller should not be plugged into a socket on the power bar, and yes it should be plugged into a seperate wall socket, if you wish to put a surge protector on that wall socket then this is the advise i am talking about.

Please feel free to email me to continue this if you are still confused.
