As the title says, I got my two polyp frag on March 29th. As of today (April 8th) I already have another polyp. I have no idea why, but zoos spread very rapidly in my tank, not that I'm complaining. Incase anybody is wondering about lighting, its just the actinic lights, with the camera flash on.

No kidding. I have zoas growing out like weeds, too, but my PPE frag started with 4 polyps almost a year ago, now. I cut one off in January and jumped from 3-6 in a few weeks, but they've added only one since then...

Zoas/Palys tend to do that with me too. They will produce several polyps at once and then add 1 or 2 over the next few weeks, then before I know it, a bunch will pop out again.

Yup always! Every time I frag one polyp off I'll get 2-3 polyps within a few weeks then they slow down and settle in for a while.

This was talked about a little bit with regards to LPS in Calfo's coral prop book. The thought is that with colonial corals, when there are several polyps the coral feels safe and grows at a regular pace. But when fragged down to single (or a few) polyps the corals seemed to go into a healing mode where they new they better generate more polyps.

In the book they were talking about cultured blastos. Basically when the colony had several polyps, the growth would primarily be on just one side. But when the blasto polyps were frags and single polyps they would grow new polyps all around the edge pretty quickly.

Don't know if this is relevant.... But it's sure better to talk about then the work I have piling up on my desk here... Blah it can wait till Monday, lol
