No, but I did have to move the frogspawn down out of the center. It took up a lot of space in the center on the top. I rearranged my water pumps and the flow up there was too much for him. I am thinking about adding about another 70-100 pounds of rock.

I found a bunch of places online that they were drilling holes through their rocks and stacking them on acrylic dows with bases. I was pretty cool looking. Might try it. I would love to make a large stack on one the overflow side and a large shelf out to the right.

Check out "reef videos dot com" and check out Carl's tank video. It is great. I want to do some rock work like that in my 90.

I would love to try and do your tank. did you look at carlos tank? I want to try that.....I am brainstroming how to make it happen....

OH...I have about 100-125 pounds....

well you are welcome to come help when we are not sick i do work for a liq. company so refreshments are on me i would love a tank like carls it is awesome

Here's what I am thinking:

1. large acrylic sheet with two acrylic dows straight up.

2. get the right size live rock and stack them together making a pilar.

3. Drill holes throught the rock big enough for the dows to go through.

4. stacking the rocking on the dows

5. get a large piece of tonga shelf for the top and cap the dows with it.

6. epoxy the places that need it.

7. enjoy the new aquatankscape!!!

could do that, but I was thinking 1/2" dow would be smaller diameter on the outside and probably stronger that the PVC. But don't know? anyone

just thinking acrylic would cost more and you have to fit a big sheet of acrylic under your sand. The pvc would be alot cheaper and easier to incorparate into an existing system

PVC is a pretty common way to 'build' rock structures. You can zip tie the rock to the PVC, which allows for a few more options. A lot of thought needs to go into it, though, as the base structure ends up supporting a lot of the weight. You can make some pretty crazy structures (like the upside down L's I saw in the Bahama's-thought those were really cool). Once in place, it's there, but if you do it right, you can make anything you want.

good point Gary

CK,
I will check on the acrylic and pvc prices. If we don't try it on your tank, I am going to do it on mine. Gonna need some tonga shelf rock too...hmmm...I look for that too...

anyone have a link for the acrylic dowel rod project where all rocks were stacked on these? I just need it for future reference.

Gary, is your "Current Tanks" updated? I really liked the size of the newest (large) tank you got and was wondering the measurements/gals.

I want to try the pvc stacks any help would be welcome. I want to create a few stacks not real worried about the big piece on top. If you find a members tank on here named iwan thats the look i want. He made some pillars with pvc. Just wonder what size pvc to go with and how to drill the rock??

give me a weekend, and and time, let's try it....I will research it as much as I can......

How much rock do you have now?
