Prazi and UV ?

Hello, would UV effect the medication ?

also, what do you use for internal worms ? what should i soak my food in ?
fish switching, its head side to side, been through 2 rounds of prazi already. [finished round 2 on saturday] and the poop is kinda stringi .. brown though. could be from eating less during treatment.

wanted to run UV to avoid secondary infections. and to have more control on parasites/bacteria.

Not sure what UV does to Prazi, but probably not a good idea to run it while treating. As far as internal/intestinal parasites are concerned, Metro seems to be the weapon of choice. You can soak the fish food with it, or treat with something like API General Cure - which actually contains both Metro & Prazi.

As far as the fish still twitching, could be Ich in the gills. Or even just the aftermath of flukes in the gills (they leave scarring which bothers the fish until fully healed). Brown stringy poop doesn't mean anything bad BTW.

+1 Directions on praziquental say to turn off UV and skimmer. Metro works great on intestinal parasites. IME fish will continue to scratch well after the flukes are gone as their skin heals.

ok cool thanks guys, will continue monitoring.

its REALLY interesting ... the angelfish is cleaning the achilles tang ! just like a cleaner wrasse ... the achilles lies on its side, and the angel picks stuff off of it ... and as it does, the achilles goes around the angel in what looks like a happy dance ! what the ... !

I tried to take a video, havent caught it in time yet though ... always stops before I can unlock phone and put it on video ...

is he picking dead skin ? more flukes ? could he also have ich and the angel picking that up ?

Whatever he is cleaning, it isn't crypto. Crypto trophonts are under the epithelium and out of reach of cleaner fish/shrimp.

Correct. Esoteric research in the Marine Biology literature (I don't get out much :hmm4:) finds that fish like being cleaned because they like being touched. And a fish that wants to be cleaned by wrasses, juvenile passer angels, shrimp, etc, will "assume the position" which indicates a desire to be cleaned AND that the cleaner will be safe.

Huh! Very interesting! I have a pink spotted goby that gets cleaned by the cleaner shrimp and a blood shrimp. What does that say about the goby;)

I found the behaivour interesting ... but thanks for jumping into conclusions ... no my angelfish did not cure ICH and that is not what i said nor what I reported ....

interesting info ! I never seen an angel do that so it was interesting.

say the tang had flukes, and the angel "cleaned" it. would the angel now get internal flukes ?
