Prazipro and cupramine question

It says right on the bottle of either prazipro and/or cupramine to not mix with any other medication. But I've heard plenty of hobbyists on reef central mention they have mixed prazipro with cupramine without any harmful effects on the fish. including my local professional distributor mixes prazipro with copper power all the time during quarantine. I'm a bit scared to try this on my expensive fish in my main system. Prazipro doesn't harm the biological filtration either does it? I've heard it doesn't, just can't remember if it does or not.

One more thing, my clown trigger is slowly recovering from white cloudy patches on her fins and one eye. Are those flukes? what are those white cloudy looking patches that will show up on fins and eyes? She's still eating like a pig and very healthy otherwise. So far I've just been using only cupramine, garlic power and vitachem in some of her food, and it is slowly going away, then coming back, going back and forth from recovery to getting slightly covered again. I'm not sure if at this point I need to continue using cupramine or try using prazipro? i don't see any signs or symptoms of worms and I'm not real certain what flukes look like. Are there different types of flukes?

Prazi-Pro is a wormer and probably the safest med there is. it can even be used in DTs. In reef tanks, only feather dusters are at risk. The bio-filter isn't hurt. Copper will hit the bio-filter a little; but not enough to bother it much. I've used cupramine for many years and have never had an ammonia problem with it, so the bio-filter obviously is OK.
The makers of PP say that PP isn't as effective when used with copper, but the two are often used together. I always dose them separably, my QT schedule has plenty of time. Copper should be dosed for 4 weeks (IMO & IME) and the PP two doses, five days apart. Fish just need a couple of days with the PP.
I'm not sure what you're trying to cure with the copper. I've never heard of Copper Power, so can't comment on it. Garlic has some possible effects on appetite, that may improve the immune system. Personally, I don't think it does much of anything and quit using it long ago. Vita-Chem is a decent vitamin supplement. Any benefits from garlic and vitamins is long-term and won't really do anything with a sick fish---won't hurt though.
A pic would help, doesn't sound like flukes to me.

It's kinda milky looking on the tips of the fins and spots on the eyes, comes and goes in different places for the past few weeks now.

Started shortly after I fed the fish live brine shrimp. got worse after the clown trigger buried the bottom siphon of the canister filter, so there was less flow, less filtration. I only noticed it was buried about a week later.

I'm wondering if the reduced biological filtration could have caused reduced water quality, causing this, or if the live brine shrimp had something to do with this outbreak. Some even got on the passer angelfish but not as much and is mostly gone now from the angelfish.

Ammonia is 0 so is nitrite and nitrate. Ph is around 8.0 - 8.2. I've been dosing with cupramine as needed to keep it between 0.25 and 0.50. Is that the right amount? I'm just wondering how much longer I'll need to keep treating. already been about a month now.

Yes the amount is right. I've dosed both at the same time with no problems before. Why are you feeding a clown trigger brine shrimp? Get some real food like silversides, clams, shrimp and squid.

I don't feed it just brine shrimp. that was just an appetizer. I feed her very well. Raw/frozen shrimp, crab and scallops as well.

Ok based on what you said why the heck are you using cupramine with vitachem and garlic power for the food? You either treat the fish for various ailments with cupramine and then use prazi pro for flukes and yes it is ok for the fish if you mix them. It's a clown trigger so most likely you won't have eating issues and I would replace your brine shrimp with mysis/mysid shrimp for all your fish

MrTusk, as of now I have a newly acquired resident in my quarantine. Desjardini tang, eating well and looks very healthy. If i can just use cupramine and not effect the main tank's biofilters, I'd rather try to treat it where it's at instead of placing the trigger in smaller living space and possibly infecting the fish I just got. I plan on doing a water change and gravel vac soon to see if it helps clear up some of that milky, haziness around her eyes and on the tips of her fins, if it doesn't clear up soon with cupramine. Sometimes it could be water quality issue, can it not?

enjetek, I only fed the main tank live brine twice, then quit feeding immediately after I noticed darting and scratching, which was over a month ago. I started treating with cupramine immediately, slowly building it up. I do feed them mysis as a snack middle of the day, and the morning and evenings, mixed brine and marine cuisine mixed food. Mostly for the 4 inch angelfish, chromis and damsels, but the trigger nibbles on it too as an appetizer. Then I fatten her up with shrimp, crab and scallops.

I have used prazipro and cupermine together with no ill effects. I do a 20% WC after two doses of prazipro. Skimmer needs to be off.
