PraziPro

I'm have some issues with fish in QT. I conditioned 6 flame wrasse for a week and all were eating great. I move them to the tank that they were going to get QT'ed for a day before adding any mediations. The water for the QT was from the conditioning tank.

After letting them settle in for a day, I added the recommended dose of PraziPro. The next day all fish were experiancing labored breathing. I remove them all and added them back into the coditioning tank. All but one made it and there are back to normal with in a few hrs.

The water was cloudy from the PraziPro in the QT, but other than that codition seemed normal. Has anyone experianced this using PraziPro.

Prazipro should only be cloudy in the first minute it is added to the tank. Did you shake the bottle really well? How did you measure the Prazipro and did you calculate the actual water volume? Is there good water flow? Did you add the Prazipro in good water flow so it is mixed quickly?

Some people here on RC have reported some weird behavior with Prazipro. I treat EVERY single one of my fish, including flame wrasses, with Prazipro and have never seen any issues.

The water was cloudy for a day or more. I shook the bottle... maybe not long enough?

it is 30gal so that is what I treated for 7.5 ml or 1.5 teaspoons. I have an empor 400 HOB and a MJ 1200. I added it into the MJ 1200.

All the fish are doing well in the conditioning tank but the one flame that didn't make it. I think I will shake the bottle longer and test to see if the water get cloudy. if it clears up will start them back into QT.

Any thoughts?

Cloudy for a day is not right. I would throw that bottle out and buy a new one. Shake it really well and then add just half dose at first and see how they react.

+1

I also use Prazipro on all new fish and I've never had it make the water cloudy except for a very short time and only in the area directly around where I added it to the tank.

I will try this. The bottle is brand new. I'll add it to the QT with out fish and give it a few hours to see if it's still cloudy.

I always shake the heck out of the bottle. It could be a bad bottle but extended clouding over a day is not right. When you add it it will usually cloud for about 5 secs but just in the area you add it then once it hits the power head the clouding is gone.

I resetup the QT tank with Prazipro and things look clear. I will add the fish and see how they do.
