PraziPro

Does PraziPro stay in solution until it is removed by water changes or carbon or does it slowly precipitate out of solution in a few days?

A single treatment lasting 5-7 days is normally sufficient. Repeat as necessary, but no more than once every 3 to 5 days. May cause temporary foaming. Thats what the label reads. So i'd have to say that it dissipates with time. And when you put the carbon back in this should eat up the rest of the chemical.

Hi,

Yes, I read that but when it says 'a single treatment lasting 5-7 days' I was not certain if I was to remove it with water changes/carbon after 5-7 days or it dissipates in 5-7 days.

Thanks.

I have found that it does seem to dissipate after a while. I say this based off anecdotal observations, but mainly due to the fact that the label does not suggest that you remove the first dose prior to the second. If it stayed in solution, this could cause an overdose. Especially if you dosed multipel times every 7 days lets say.

yes it dissipates but when i dose after the treatment is done i do add carbon and then turn on skimmer . it will make your skimmer go wild usually for a few days .

Most people that have used this do a large water change after treatment, it is very hard to get out even with carbon and like said above the skimmer will be overfoaming for a long time without a water change.

+1 on the water change idea. The problem is that for egg-laying species of trematodes, you need to do 2 treatments, about 14 days apart. Since nobody really knows how long praziquantel remains active in water, and since high doses can cause problems, it is prudent to perform a big water change between treatment #1 and #2. I do a 50 to 75% change.
