I'm a newbie to SW and I'm learning as I go along. I have QT'd my fish since I started, but I have not yet used any preventative treatments. Lately, I have read a lot on here suggesting the prophylactic use of PraziPro, so I'm considering using it going forward. I have read the various stickies, but I still have a few questions regarding PraziPro, namely:
a) Are there any downsides/risks to using PraziPro? If so, what? Anything I should be "œon guard" for after I dose?
b) Based on the instructions on the bottle, I take it you simply add Prazi to the water (after removing carbon, etc.) and leave it for 5-7 days. But the bottle doesn't say how to remove it from the water. Does it simply dissipate in 5-7 days? Or do you then need to start running carbon and/or do a large WC after the 5-7 days?
c) I currently have 5 fish in my DT, all of whom were QT'd but did not receive Prazi. All 5 fish are seemingly healthy, except my 2 chromis, who have white stringy poo, which my recent readings suggest is indicative of worms. Other than the stringy poo, they have no other symptoms, and they're still eating well. Given that situation, do you think I should also dose my DT? (My DT is fish-only, with no corals/inverts.)
d) Finally, how accurate does one have to be with the PraziPro dosage? I have no problem with my QT, since I know how much water I put in there, but I can only do an educated guess as to the water volume in my DT (given displacement, etc.). If my educated guess happens to be off a bit, will there be a problem?
