Prazipro??

Looking for people who have used prazipro w/ cuprimine. Is it a good idea to combine the two. What are your experiences??

I have combined prazipro with formalin and others, but never cupramine since fish have a hard enough time with copper.

bad idea, aldehydes , lincluding prazi, will break down cupri into ionic state, which is highly toxic.

I used cupramine awhile back and remembered seeing this (copied from the Seachem website):

Q: I've been dosing with Cupramineâ"žÂ¢ and then I added Product X and everything died. What happened?

A: If Product X is a reducing agent such as ParaGuardâ"žÂ¢ (or other aldehyde based medications), or if you overdose with a dechlorinator, such as Primeâ"žÂ¢ then the Cu+2 will be reduced to Cu+. Cu+ is 10 times more toxic than Cu+2.

After talking to a few very experienced reefers I decided to add the prazipro to my qt with cuprimine. Both other reefers always treat their fish in the qt with cupramine & prazipro without any fish loses.

I've used Praziquantel at 2ppm with a full dose of Coppersafe and never saw any problems. Coppersafe is similar to Cupramine. I ddin't do this because I wanted to, that was just how it worked out. I would always prefer to dose with one medication at a time if at all possible.

baobao, where is the aldehyde group on the praziquntel molecule?
