Just got the price quotation and it was aprox 130 USD each.
Do not know how much plexi tubes would cost for the same size.

There has got to be an alternative for clear plastic tubing that is economical. How much does it cost to make a 2 liter soda bottle?!!! Made larger and with a wall thickness about 6-8 times as thick.
Lets just take a jab. 2 liter @ $.50. Times 2 for twice the hieght. Times 4 for twice the width. Times 8 for eight for 8X wall thickness. (($.50x2x4)x 8)= $32
This is a huge over estimate. When you figure you can get cheap 2 liter bottles of generic soda for about $.60-$.80. Keep in mind this is retail and also includes the price of the soda itself, profit to the bottle producer, Profit to the soda maker, And profit to the retail store.

I think that nalgene bottle has serious promise, I would certainly give it a shot. If I hadn't already aquired the acrylic tube I would go that route myself. There are much cheaper versions of that bottle made from HDPE which could also be used, but they are not clear.

Regarding the soda bottles, those are made via blow-molding allowing them to create bottles quickly and very cheaply, the limitations of it are mostly in thickness, though thicker items such as hard-shell luggage are also made that way.

You could have an entire skimmer body blow molded, but you would probably spend $100,000 or more on the mold.

These are what I am referring to:

The HDPE bottles are about 60 USD. I might be cheaper in the US since my prices are what I got from the Norwegian distributor.
