Predrilled Tank and Noisy Overflow

I purchased a 75 gallon tank a few years ago and have it set up and running with live rock, a pair of clowns, goby, lawnmower blenny, coral beauty, flame angel and cleaner shrimp and have been dealing with a noisy overflow since new. The tank was drilled by the previous owner and has two 1" bulkheads just below the rim on both sides of the back glass. I currently have a small overflow box over each drain and depending on how i set up my flow with my mag 9.5 I end up with either a ton of noise or very low flow. I have tried various fittings, turndowns, strainers and no boxes but I would now like to try the Herbie overflow as that is the only way I think I will be happy.

The problem is, the tank is currently full and I cannot take it down. When I did the small overflow boxes, I drained it half way for a few days and did some water changes while the sealant cured and did not have any issues at all. I would like to do the same and install a wider (nearly coast to coast overflow). I measured the bulkeads and would need a box with a minimum inside dimension of 40" wide.

Has anyone had any luck installing an overflow this size in a 75? Could you install the box as one piece or have to build it in the tank? My minimum inside dimensions would be 40"x4"x5" tall and I would like to order a full acrylic box (with a back) to avoid silicone in the tank again. I am not sure of the tank brand but it is a glass tank with a single plastic brace across the center.

Thank You,
Jack
