Ive also heard of spaghetti that is cooked and added for porosity, also cheato, to make shell imprints use the shell macaroni, caves can be made with a balloon or latex glove that is blown up and then popped after the concrete sets up. Ive also heard of making small tunnels with tube macaroni (the stuff you make into ziti) and bigger ones with paper towel tubes, which are made of paper and when the rock is curing get soft enough to remove. Heard of people doing all sorts of stuff to rock... you just have to take your pick and go with it.

If you read the post of the forum called Ultimate Diy rock. They tested pasta both cooked and uncooked. The cooked pasta was a pain to get out of the inside and the uncooked swelled when the rock was soaked the pasta sswelled and cracked the rock. The shell imprint won't be seen anyway. The gloves worked well but I prefer sand it will give the same results.
