Premium Snowflake Pair

Just thought I would share a couple of pics of my new pair over here in the clownfish forum. I drooled over them for over a month at my LFS before finally deciding to make the purchase. Their orange color is so vivid and the markings so intricate and cool that I couldn't resist.

sweet patterns on them. if you want to keep or even boost their orange, feed them alot of cyclops. i use freeze dried cyclops and it keeps my clowns very orange. has to do with astaxanthin. i had a yellowish orange snowflake that looked dull, but since i feed it with the cyclops, it has gotten very orange and much prettier.

Thanks for the comments everyone!! I'm really happy with the purchase, though I was a bit sad to get rid of the true perc that I had for nearly a year.

Agree that the question mark one is definitely the star of the two!

Thanks for the tip on the cyclops, I'll have to pick up some frozen, it's almost time to restock anyway.

Wauv really great color and markings on that pair, I can understand why you would swap some of your fish around for that couple. Where ever did you get them?
Do you want to breed them?

Agree, I don't know they I have ever seen a pair (or even a single) with such bright orange coloration. I actually found them at my LFS, though they do specialize in fancy clowns so it was kind of cheating... :) No plans to breed them specifically, but what happens happens!

How much were they? I have one with a black ice clown!

Well that's kind of a rude question! Hahaha, jk... The pair was listed at $250 but I got a little bit better deal for being an exceptional customer :)

Nice Fancy Snowflakes ;)

Thanks!! :spin2:

Not to be a downer.... But they don't look like a "premium" pair to me.. My understanding is that the premium pairs have to have some connections between the first and middle stripe..

Like this: (the bottom one in the photo is the only one I would grade "premium")

Those are a nice snowflake pair though..

Very True deangelr--these have a deep red orange color along with more vivid black outlines delineating the edges of the fins and the white/orange transition--all due to their parentage (Fancy ocellaris x snowflake) thus their designation as "Fancy Snows" rather than regular snowflakes--of course what some call "extreme" or "premium" (as in the lower fish from the photo above) also occurs in this variety--IMO these would be graded as "standard" Fancy Snows (the breeder grades them that way anyway ;) )

Yes, yall are totally right!! They were sold to me as "fancy snowflake" but I mixed up the name because I was also looking at a pair of ORA premium snowflakes as well as a snow onyx pair. Too many names...

So, premium snowflakes they are not, fancy snowflakes they are, and either way I'm happy with the purchase! :bounce3: Thanks for the correction.

Now I know where to get them from :)
