Prenancy walkabout

My wife is about a week overdue now and we've been told walking helps, so lately we've been cruising around every night a couple miles (probably helps my fat butt more than hers) and I started bringing the camera the last couple times...

Here is a seagull from a day or two ago... he kept calling, I got a couple good shots of him with his mouth wide open.

This goose was very curious, I think it thought we had food.

This guy was doing barrel rolls in the water trying to clean himself off I guess, or just enjoying it? It was one of the first sunny days and the birds were frolicking.

This gander was trying to keep everyone away from his woman.

And then finally, a somewhat dramatic cloud shot off a bluff at the end of one of our walks. It was really raining off to the right of the shot. I wished I had gotten there a little bit earlier and brought my tripod and remote, I would have loved to have a time lapse of it.

You take some very incredible pictures. I love the second to last picture, the water looks almost "fake".

Thanks. I'd like to say I faked it some but those geese pictures are about 100% untouched, I just changed exposure a little because I had the camera overexposing about 2/3 of a stop while I was shooting into a brighter area and I wanted detail on the geese.

Anyway, a certain time of the afternoon the sun is coming in at just the right angle that when combined with the brown grass all around the lake it makes some neat reflections :) A "magic" hour of photography at that little lake, I'm glad we happened to be walking by at the time.

I'm almost hoping my wife stays overdue for a while, it's giving me lots of photography chances I normally dont get! We saw a little robin today too, he was hiding from me but didnt realize how powerful my zoom was ;)

cool deal man. Nice sharpness...with all this bird stuff you're doing you are gonna miss the crop factor if you get that 5D.

I know, I'm thinking of that too. I'll probably end up buying either the 1.4x or the 2x extender.

How do I look up if the 100-400 and the 5D Mk II will autofocus through the extender? I know some lenses wont...

I don't know how you look it up actually. I am pretty sure they are compatable though. I think it comes more down to the aperature and how much light it lets in. If you're gonna have issues it'll be with the 2X, not the 1.4X. Then again, I am not totally up to speed on all things Canon so I could be wrong. Doug probably knows though :).

I'm not sure he reads my threads, I'm a little too amateur still ;) I guess we will find out though.

What do you think about this for a "signature" on my photos? I'm looking for something a little artsy but not too horribly pretentious.

Congrats on the baby. Won't be long before mother goose is patrolling her gooslings...

Hopefully with the 5d MK II and micro adjust you will get something that looked better then my 40d and 400mm/1.4tc. That combo for me was unusable. Beyond the pictures being to soft the auto focus was painfully slow.

I am pretty sure the you will have to manually focus but you can definitely find a answer on POTN forum... Jeff
