Price of Mystery Wrasse?

It doesn't seem like that long ago a Mystery Wrasse was nearly impossible to find and if you did find one you were probably going to pay close to $200 to get it. It seems like they have become much more common, in fact I saw one in the LFS for $75 today and they were have a deal that you could get 15% off making him closer to $65. Are they more common than they used to be, less desirable...a little of both?

I don't know why they are cheaper now, but I sure am happy that they are. My mystery wrasse is still one of my favorite fish. I am happy to have not paid so much for it

they received shipments to many stores and wholesalers here in Miami and they were available almost every couple of weeks for the last couple of months. But from what I have seen they aren't readily available often. Live aquaria has them listed for $99.99 but like previously stated I have seen them for $65-$75 t stores. But as of now I haven't seen any.

I think they have become more popular, are being imported more, so their price has gone down.

They are a beautiful fish, the price and availability seems to sway a lot with these fish. I've seen them for 120 not too long ago, and when I picked one up a couple years ago I only paid 40 for him... so prices are definitely dependent on the store.

My LFS puts them on sale for $55 every few months.

Funny you mention this. I noticed the same thing. I recall a couple years ago seeing a MW go for $150 on average and now they are half the price.

Other fish like the Asfur Angel has doubled in price.....granted Red Sea and all, but they were once a grand, then under a hundred, now over 2.

Wierd how the price fluctuates. Moorish Idol prices are starting to creep up to and Copper Band Butterfly prices have fallen dramatically. Tinkers Butterfly is now over 500 and a couple years ago were half that.?

its all about supply and demand. for example, no LFS will sell Asfur Angel in my town because i can simply fish one out easily from the sea. on the other hand a yellow tang would sell for more then 120$ a fish because it is popular among aquarists in my country with little supply
