Probe Holder Question

I'm looking at making my own holder for two probes and the two return lines from the dosing pump. Does anyone know if they have to be a certain distance apart?

When the alk comes out it will temporarily read a higher pH in that chamber of the sump.

Raptor72 - I would suggest adding sealed magnets to the probe holder that way they can be adjusted / removed with ease. And I be following this thread !!!

Yes, I'm planning on using some encased magnets. I took plastics as an elective ( a long time ago ) in school and learned to make just about anything. Unfortunately, I don't have access to all the cool supplies I had back then. I'm planning on using a sheet of 1/4" acrylic, doubling it up to make the holes with threads and plastic screws. Kind of like this.

I just want to make sure that the Temp and PH probes being right next to the dosing pump returns won't have a negative effect.

Wow - looks good !!! LMK if you will be making any extra's !!! :D

I am planning on bundling my alk/calc lines with my ATO, with the ATO slightly above the alk/calc. That way, the ATO flushes the buildup off of the dosing lines. :)

That's a great idea. Also any output tubes need to be cut at an angle instead of cut off straight. (Picture a hypodermic needle magnified)

This helps BIG time in preventing or at least minimizing clogging. Also with your ATO feed right above this will also help with the flushing effect.

The more I think about this idea the more I like it. :)

Well, I was about half way through and was drilling the holes for the probes and cracked the horizontal section. It's a real pain without doing it on a drill press. I was going to start a new one tomorrow and then I received an alert on my phone regarding a new item on my E-bay search for a probe holder. This one is only $15 and adjustable. No magnets and uses a little more material which makes me wonder how this guy makes a profit. I don't know if I can post it because I couldn't find the Forum rules, but go to E-bay and put in 111035250914 under search or search for probe holder.

This works for me because making the holder was taking a good part of my 2 days off and I have a long honey-do list.

DIY tip anytime you drill or thread acrylic always sandwich and clamp between two pieces of wood to support the acrylic works for me every time

I had it clamped down to a piece of wood, the problem was holding the drill steady since I was doing two different size overlapping holes for the probes and the second one was just floating. Imagine a nickel and dime overlapped, once you drill the hole for one, the second hole will have no center to grab hold of.

That's where the drill press would have been helpful because it holds its center and doesn't wobble. I almost went to Harbor Freight to pick me up a $69 press, but didn't want to spend more money than I needed to. I think that was the only missing factor, because otherwise it was coming out fine.

Any other time, I'd jump @ the chance. Unfortunately, with this Gov. Sequestration BS going on right now, I have to watch what I spend.
