Problem with a brand new DRY PH Electrode

First of all I know that Michael handles North America sales only but as a regular RC user I decided to post my question here as well. I just need an advice on how I should proceed. Anyhow.

I just received a brand new GHL PH electrode that I purchased from one of the biggest GHL dealers in Germany. When I opened the box I saw that the PH probe storage container was only half full with storage solution and that the Electrode glass chamber is NOT in the solution. When I removed the storage container I saw that the PH Electrode was completely dry, there was no fluid in the electrode glass tube. I emailed the GHL dealer right away explaining my case and that is the response I got from them:

"Hello,

we have only new elektrodes and all are looking like this.
The sense of the cap is too keep the moisture, but the sense of the construction is not to keep it wet all the time.
The white powder is dried NaCl.
So with this electrode is everything ok.

You can also write an email to GHL if you want."

So is that true? Are all new GHL PH Electrodes dried out inside and that be ok? I had the chance of purchasing PH electrodes from other (USA) brands that were half the price of GHL's electrodes but as always I decided to trust GHL and their quality. I need an advice on how I should proceed, as the GHL dealer is claiming that a dry glass chamber PH electrode is how it is supposed to be. I read in different places, even here on RC boards, that when a PH electrode is dry inside the glass tube it can malfunction and even if it works again (by replenishing in KCL solution for 24 hours) its life span is reduced drastically and it may fail within a few months. I have waited 2 weeks for shipment on this electrode to get my calcium reactor running and now I cannot even use it as I am not sure if the electrode is working or not and if it should be returned to seller or not. Please advice. I will attach pictures of how the probe is above the fluid level - it seems that the storage fluid spilled out, there was not enough fluid left to cover the electrode and glass tube is completely dry now.

I just purchased one a couple of weeks ago that had the same issue. I've tried to calibrate it several times and it's stuck on a pH reading of 10.50. I have let it soak in 4.0 solution overnight as recommended. When I recalibrate it in 4.0/7.0/9.0 solutions, it says it says it calibrates ok but once it gets back in the sump it goes back to a reading of 10.5. Any suggestions?

@ VEL - THIS IS NORMAL :)

The membrane has to be only damp and as can be seen from the photo there is plenty of moisture around the membrane.

Does it read pH7 when put in pH7 solution?

If yes then its working, if no then go to www.aquariumcomputer.com and the support forum for support and for GHL to determine warranty, however I doubt this as we never really see any GHL probes with warranties.

Thanks but VeL already beat me too it. Per Matthias from the GHL Support Team....

"....please just use the probe and if there occur unexpected problems then contact your retailer".

Unfortunately my retailer is no longer in business as of last week (3CC). Is there someone else I may return the probe to? I still have my sales receipt? Thanks again.

You sure 3cc is out of business, in regular contact with them and still buying from us! I know he was moving stores.

Does it read correctly in the solution? please email us (dont post here its not a support forum) a photo of your probe in pH7 solution against the LCD screen so we can see the tolerance difference.
