Last night the I notice water pouring out of the side of the skimmer where the bracket for the air intake and adjustment tube should be attacked. The bracket has come unglued and the nylon screw was lose. I cleaned the skimmer and tryed to run the screw in tight but it will not thread in enough and I'm concern it will twist off. It was still puring water out so I removed the screw and covered the hole with some duck tape. :D

It's holding but the adjustment tube is just hang there.

Here are some pictures

I checked with Proline and this is what they told me.

We have the replacement screws for that attachment. Also there is no glue it is held on solely by the screw. Ask the customer to try and tighten the screw so it does not leak. If that doesn't work he could try a tiny amount of silicon on the screw to act as a seal. But he will have to take the skimmer off line over night to make sure it cures properly.
Give me a call if I have confused you. Also If the customer would like to talk to us directly you can give him our number.

If you have any other questions just let me or them know.

Thanks for the response Michelle.

I do not agree with Proline regarding this bracket not being glued. I know it was, and in the last pic you can clearly see the band of glue. I also have access to another Mini-160 and after removing the screw, the bracket is still securely attached to the body of the skimmer.

This is not the response from Proline I expected. I was able to get a replacement nylon screw from a local hardware store but, as I mentioned above it WILL NOT thread in enough to tighten the bracket to the body. I suppose silicone would work IF I could get the bracket to tighten up.

I expected more from a $900 skimmer.

Hi,

I too, believe there is a very small amount of glue that is ran around this bracket. You should be able to pick up a small tube of WeldOn, however I forget the number you are needing, that you can run a small line on there to fix it. Depending on the purchase date, it could still be under warranty if you would like to go that route to have that piece replaced. The only downside to it would be the wait to get the parts if they're not in stock.

As far as Bubble King's go in general, they are rock solid! Unfortunately sometimes there are issues with the best of any product, however I can tell you from experience that Bubble King has an excellent track record for minor issues such as this.
