problem with bubble magus nac7...?

Hey all, I recently just purchased a bubble magus nac7 and i have it set up in my sump but I can not figure out how to keep it from over flowing... it fills up the gallon jug in a matter of a few minutes... I have moved this thing all over vertically in the sump I originally had it sitting in 10.5" of water, then moved it to 9" then 8" then 7" then back to 9" and let it run for a little while... however i can't keep it from over flowing the bubbles into the collection cup... the air tube(vavle) is in the off position this whole time... setting it to even 1(out of 5) causes it just to over flow that much quicker... the water level in this chamber of my sump is constant at 11" depth...... Not sure what is going on with it... it's making great frothy bubbles just waaaaayyy too many.

it only will stop over flowing in about 5 inches of water... i think that is a little shallow? its half the recommended

just going to run it at 7"... it is creating a good head at about the middle of the collection cup with the air valve off, we shall see what happens once it breaks in.

K thanks, it appears to be running great in 7"... just wasn't sure if this would still allow it to be efficient at doing it's job as the instructions call for 9"-11" depth...but then again the instructions are a terrible translation aswell ROFL

Im actually goin through the same thing right now. Just set up my swc 250cone and it just keeps overflowing with bubbles and actually popping the top right off it! I actually had to run the water level in my sump so that it is just covering the pump for the skimmer. About 2" lower than they recommend. This helped and the skimmer is running good now. The water level was just too high at their lowest recommended setting and didnt leave enough room for the bubbles, even with the outlet open all the way. Not familiar with your skimmer but try to get the water level lower in the skimmer body so when the bubbles start rising there is enough room for them and it wont just overflow. U can do this by lowering the water level in the sump, by opening the outlet on the skimmer more, or by lowering the flow of water into the skimmer

I run my BM NAC7 in about 8" of water. It is dead silent and it fills up it's collection cup in two days with dark smelly nog. Best skimmer I've owned, not that I've owned many. Just find that sweet spot and let it go. Make sure you're giving plenty of time between adjustments.

i run mine in 7 inches set at 3 and it runs perfect (just loud!) Enjoy. (is yours quiet?)

This is exactly how I have mine set at the moment, and it is Dead quiet, and skims extremely well now... I was just worried about it not picking up enough stuff at 7" when the mfg recommends atleast 9" but it's working like a boss.

i have my skimmer at 7" of water and at about 3 on the tube. If the skimmer is "new" then its probably overflowing from the oils from the mfg process. I just let my skimmer run for a few days with the drain from the cup returning back to the sump. After a few days i plugged up the drain hose on the cup and started adjusting the air till i found the sweet spot and it has been running great ever since.
