problem with Gen2 upgrade kit upon reassembling

Hi All.

I am trying to install the plastic magnet, screw to upgrade my MP40W to Gen2.
I am running into some major problems since when I put everything back together, the pump does not rotate without a lot of resistance. I have tried to put everything together a few times but each time there ends up being too much resistance. I suspect the problem is either with the ceramic bearing or the drive shaft, because when I put the drive shaft back with the propeller into the ceramic bearing they do not turn in unison, there is too much friction. When the drive shaft nut is too tight, there is too much friction, but then when I loosen the nut a bit, the drive shaft does not rotate in unison with the propeller.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Its very likely that you may have re-installed the ceramic bearing back into the wet frame wrong. Check to ensure that the tabs on the bottom of the wet bearing are engaging with the tabs in the wet frame. The bearing should be flush with the surface of the frame. When everything is installed properly, the tightness of the nut does not affect the operation of the unit, so long as it is not too loose.

Here's a video that shows things pretty well:

I bought four of these upgrade kits and am having trouble with one. The plastic piece with the notches that the prop goes on is missing the tabs. When I tighten the screw the whole unit will not turn. Is it supposed to be missing the tabs? This unit worked prior to me doing the upgrade....

Also, all three that are now working make a lot of noise when in slow speed but get quiet when at fast speed which is opposite of what I was expecting.

To add to my level of frustration I have one that I got quiet but it keeps sliding down the side of my tank. I have a 210 with 1/2" glass on the sides so I set the outside piece to 1/2". I have it on pulse mode and when the pump turns on the wet side keeps on sliding down.

The Gen2 magnet kit does not include a drive shaft (the part with or without the tabs), but also, the newer drive shafts do not have these tabs and it does not affect operation.

The kit doesn't actually have any parts that affect the operation or fit of the pump after installation. Anytime there is an issue after the installation of the Gen2 magnet kit it is because of an assembly related problem. Please review this video for assistance:

The most important thing to watch out for is that the bearing is installed flush with the surface of the frame. If it is raised above the frame then it has not been installed properly and will prevent the propeller from rotating.
