Problem with new PFO mini pendant

My new 250 watt 10K mini pendant arrived today (1/29/04). After hanging it, I turned it on and very slowly it came to life. I thought I would move it forward a bit because it seemed slightly off center. I turned the light off at this point because it had gotten too hot to handle.

After my adjustments, I went to turn it back on, and it does nothing of the sort. If I hold it in a shadow I can see a slight purple lighting coming out only a bit, but other than that it emits no light whatsoever. The bulb also has a lot of white/light grey 'powder' coating on the inside.

It was on for no more than 10 minutes, and now wont come on again. Any help is appreciated.

How long after you turned it off did you attempt to turn it back on? My MH needs to cool down completely before it will fire back up...

Hi trial0r,

Metal halide bulbs usually take a day or two to burn in. As per Sloth mentioned, the ballasts need to cool down before they can be restarted. It is a good idea to never turn off a MH bulbs within 15 minutes of turning it on, and to not turn it on within 15 minutes of turning it off. These 10K bulbs and PFO ballasts are extremely reliable. Just give it a chance to burn in and it should work well. If not, give us a call at 714-385-0080 (or send us an email at customercare@marinedepot.com) and we will help you troubleshoot the unit and fix what may be broken.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

Sincerely,
Joseph
